I am the son of a Presbyterian minister and grew up mainly in western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, &
in the panhandle of West Virginia area always within an hour of my favorite city of Pittsburgh PA. My
father died when I was 12 & my mother and I relocated to Louisville KY.
In Louisville, I attended a small Catholic high school called DeSales. I graduated from DeSales in
1995 & I began at a small Catholic university in Louisville called Bellarmine. It was a good school, but
I needed to get away from home and transferred to Western Kentucky University after 1 semester. I
loved my time at WKU!!! My Junior year at WKU, I spent a summer in England & Scotland studying the
history of the royal family. I graduated WKU in 2000 with a degree in Social Studies & minor in
Political Science.
After WKU, I moved back to Louisville & began working on my Masters in Secondary Education from
Spalding University (another small Catholic college in Louisville) In 2001 I married my wife Deanna & I
finished my Masters degree in 2002. I started teaching at my old high school of DeSales. While there
I coached Freshman baseball. In 2003 we decided to move to Richmond, VA
In 2003, we bought a home in Midlothian & were both hired to teach in Henrico county. After 1 year in
Henrico, I was hired by Chesterfield County and came to Matoaca High School for the 2004-2005
school year. Our first son Nathan was born that year too, in April 2005. My wife Deanna was hired by
Matoaca High school for the 2005-2006 school year and teaches English. July 2007 our daughter
"Emily" was born. January 2009 our second son Wesley arrived.
